Community Bank Safeguards Customers Against Fraud
Bank Introduces Protect Yourself tools on new website
As part of the Community Bank of Parkersburg’s commitment to ensuring customer security, the bank is unveiling a technology risk resource section on its new website.
The redesigned website aims to be a community portal, featuring neighborhood events, high school sports schedules and important information to keep the community safe.
“Identity theft is among the fastest growing crimes in America and families are finding themselves at increased risk,” said Community Bank President Randall Snider. “It is important that consumers have the right tools to proactively protect their credit health.”
The Protect Yourself section of the site provides Web visitors with the information to make sure they stay safe and secure. Personal and business consumers can read about ways to keep their hard-earned money safe and find out about online scams to prevent from falling victim.
Nearly 10 million Americans fall victim to identity theft each year, according to the Federal Trade Commission. Community Bank acknowledged the growing trend and developed the Web resources for not only bank clients, but for the local community.
“At Community Bank, we are dedicating to serving the neighborhood where we live and work,” Snider said. ‘We understand that identity theft victims may spend years – and large sums of money – restoring their credit histories and good names. This section is designed as an educational tool for citizens in Wood and surrounding counties to learn about how best to protecting their private information.”
From providing ways to prevent identity theft to outlining what to do if it does happen, the site’s Protect Yourself section is the go-to place for fraud concerns. It also offers tips to protect computers from viruses and worms, as well as spyware and phishing scams.
For local businesses, the site suggests ways to protect their most valuable asset – their employees, ways to prevent embezzlement and advice to fight check fraud.
