Prevent Unauthorized Checks from Clearing with Positive Pay

Our Positive Pay service ensures that only authorized payments are processed, by comparing checks presented for payment with a digital file of issued checks from your company and letting you decide whether to pay any exceptions.

Defining Common Scams

Fraudsters rely on urgency, fear and impersonation. Here are a few of the most common business scams today.

Business Email Compromise (BEC)

Also known as Email Account Compromise (EAC), this scam centers on fraudulent emails that appear to come from a known source.

Check Fraud

When someone uses, alters, forges or creates checks to withdraw money from a company’s bank account. Criminals can even steal an existing check, chemically remove the ink, leaving a signature and then rewrite the check to themselves for any amount.

ACH and Wire Fraud

Criminals find ways to initiate unauthorized Automated Clearing House (ACH) or wire transactions from a business bank account.

Vendor, Payment or Payroll Fraud

Occurs when someone, internal or external, manipulates a company’s payment or payroll system to receive or redirect unauthorized payments.

Government and Business Impersonators

Happens when criminals pose as representatives of government agencies, vendors or trusted partners – usually intending to pressure the business into making payments or sharing sensitive information.

Cyberattacks

Consider it a digital break-in intended to steal information, disrupt operations or use the access to commit financial fraud. Reducing the risk of a cyberattack involves up-front work, consistent monitoring and ongoing awareness. For comprehensive cybersecurity information, visit the Federal Trade Commission website.
